Higgins (George V.) is born in Boston.

The son of John and Doris (Montgomery) Higgins, George Higgins graduates from Boston College and Stanford University, becomes a newspaper reporter in Providence, Springfield, and then Boston, then graduates from Boston College Law School. He then serves as an assistant attorney general and assistant U.S. attorney, opens his own law practice, and teaches at Boston University. Higgins publishes his first crime novel in 1972,* and goes on to write both fiction and on-fiction. He dies in Milton on November 6, 1999.
